As the first Norwegian gangster-comedy feature film Tomme Tønner hit the film screen in 2010, 26 000 people found their way to the movie theatres the opening weekend. According to NTB, this is the highest number of any film in 2009, with the exception of childrens film. We must go all the way back to the premiere of Død Snø (Dead Snow) to find a feature film with simular success. And guess what – there are some common elements between these two films that include Euforia Film, two men from Finnmark and one Hocus Focus editor. Martin Stoltz had the pleasure of cutting this film of heavenly casting and Cohenesque mafia characters. A favourite is Anders Danielsen Lies personification of Nico: A white, skinny wannabe from Nordstrand, who has gotten access to the ghetto of Grønland. There are some hilarious moments here, as when Nico makes the mistake of using heroin as sugar. Right up there with the stomach-ache caused by Alan in The Hangover. Thank heaven for unpretentious comedy. www.tommetonner.no
